Dark 'N' Stormy . . .

Is not just weather right now, but also my new favorite drink for the season. Warm with the flavor of rum and festive with the taste of ginger, a Dark 'N' Stormy is an ideal cocktail for a damp November evening.

I'm of the sort that finds a drink she likes and sticks with it, so I've tried my fare share of D 'N' S's around the city. I must say, though, that the best I've had has been at Bar and Books on the Upper East Side. A cozy, little nook on Lexington Ave, Bar and Books lures Park Avenue gentlemen with it's fine brandies, jazz, and cigar selection. And as a result, the bartender truly appreciates when you order a mixed drink. He pours his heart and soul into the glass as he gets to show off his mixology skills. And he does have quite the skills for a good Dark 'N' Stormy.

5 oz Gosling's Ginger Beer
0.5 oz Lime

Fill up a highball glass with ice. Add rum and lime, top with beer.
Garnish with a lime wedge.
